From Proto-Northern Jê *ĵwa (to bathe) < Proto-Cerrado *jwam (bathe) < Proto-Jê *jôm (bathe)), reshaped by analogy with the nonfinite form twârâ, from Proto-Northern Jê *ĵwə̂r (to bathe).
