From u- +‎ forsonlig, first part from Old Norse ú-, ó-, from Proto-Germanic *un-, from Proto-Indo-European *n̥-, a prefix use of the particle *ne (not). Last part from the verb forsone (reconcile), from Middle Low German vorsōnen or German versöhnen (reconcile), from Middle High German versüenen, versuonen, from Old High German firsuonen.
