Romanian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic врътежь (vrŭtežĭ), from врьтѣти (vrĭtěti, to turn around) +‎ -ежь (-ežĭ), from Proto-Slavic *vьrtěti. A link to Latin vertigium is highly improbable.
