Etymology[edit]
From Proto-Fula-Serer *gaaɓ, whence also Serer kaaɓ.[1] Cognate with Laalaa kaaɓ (“cheek, jaw”), Wolof kaabaab (“jaw”), Saafi-Saafi kaɓaɓki (“cheek”), Bedik ɔ-hɔɓ (“cheek”).
