wedge up (third-person singular simple present wedges up, present participle wedging up, simple past and past participle wedged up)

  1. (transitive) To fill or block up with wedges.
  2. (intransitive, UK, prison slang) To barricade oneself in one's cell.
    • 2000, Reginald Kray, A Way of Life:
      They both wedged up in his cell and refused to come out. They were hurling abuse at the screws on the other side of the door. As a result they were both shipped out to another jail the following day.
