From Proto-Turkic *yïm-ĺča-k (soft, mild).[1] Cognate with Old Turkic 𐰘𐰢𐱁𐰴 (yïmšaq),[2] Turkish yumuşak, Crimean Tatar yımşaq, yumşaq, etc.
