Borrowed from New Latin zygomaticus minor, clipping of mūsculus zygomaticus minor (smaller zygomatic muscle).

  1. (anatomy) A slender band of muscle on each side of the face that arises from the zygomatic bone, inserts into the upper lip between the zygomaticus major and the levator labii superioris, and acts to raise the upper lip upward and laterally.
