Navajo[edit]

Phrase[edit]

éí ííníyą́ąʼgo naaʼdidoolyééł

  1. "if you eat that, your spouse will be stolen"

Usage notes[edit]

Referring to the heels of a loaf of bread. In old Navajo lore, it was said that eating the heels would result in one’s spouse being stolen by another. For this reason, the Navajo call the two heels "divorce bread" in English.
