Old Tupi[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From îy (“tool”) + kûara (“hole”). Tupians made their axes with a sharp stone tied up to the handle, while steel axe heads are made with a hole where the handle is passed through, rendering the new name.[1]
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
îykûara (possessable)
