From Old Median *Gaučiθra, literally "bearing the seed of the ox/of cattle" or "having the origin of the ox/of cattle"[1] (cf. Avestan 𐬔𐬀𐬊𐬗𐬌𐬚𐬭𐬀 (gaociθra)[2]).
