Presumably a Semitic borrowing, deriving from Akkadian 𒂁𒆗𒉡 (/⁠dannu⁠/, storage vat mostly for storing beer and wine), also found as Ugaritic 𐎄𐎐 (dn, vessel, vat), Aramaic דַּנָּא / ܕܰܢܳܐ (dannā, wine jug, vat) and Arabic دَنّ (dann, wine jug).
