Kildin Sami[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Samic *vuostē, from Proto-Uralic *wasta (a place opposite or across). Related to вӯсьт (vūs’t).

Cognates include Skolt Sami vuâstta, Ter Sami выэсста (vïesstâ) and Akkala Sami [script needed] (vosta).
