Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *tüpkürük (saliva), a development of *tüpkür- (to spit), whence төкөрөү (tököröw, to spit). Cognate with Kumyk тюкюрюк (tükürük) and Turkish tükürük (saliva).
