Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old East Slavic оуха́ти (uxáti), ѫха́ти (ǫxáti), from Proto-Slavic *ǫxàti, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₂enh₁-. Cognate with Russian Church Slavonic оухати (uxati), Polish wąchać.
