Etymology 1[edit]

Partly from Աբեղ (Abeġ, a male give name) +‎ -յան (-yan), partly from աբեղա (abeġa) +‎ -յան (-yan). In the case of Manuk Abeghian, apparently adopted as a modified form of Աղբեղյան (Aġbeġyan), which is of Turkic origin.
