Yiddish[edit]

Noun[edit]

האַרצן (hartsn)

  1. inflection of האַרץ (harts):
    1. dative singular
    2. plural

Usage notes[edit]

Use of the inflected dative form is optional and may be entirely obsolete in some dialects. It is often used when the metaphorical sense of 'heart' is intended, e.g. זיך נעמען זומ האַרצן (zikh nemen zum hartsn, to take (something) to heart).[1][2]
