Etymology[edit]
Akin to Aramaic יהבא (“load, burden”), and an Aramaism יהב in Psalm 55, 23. Likely related to Akkadian 𒀀𒊭𒁍 (a-ša-bu /ašābu/, “to sit down”) bearing also in the form IV 𒋗𒋗𒁍 (šu-šu-bu /šūšubu/) the here notable senses of “settling” and of “staying in an ambush”, “being assigned to be a garrison soldier”, which are occasions where one would need gear or supplies.
