Inherited from Proto-Turkic *burčak (bean, pea); cognate with Bashkir борсаҡ (borsaq), Chuvash пăрҫа (părś̬a), Kazakh бұршақ (būrşaq), Kyrgyz буурчак (buurcak), Turkmen burçak, Uyghur پۇرچاق (purchaq) and Uzbek burchoq.
