Hijazi Arabic[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From Italian guanti, plural of guanto, from Frankish *want, probably through Egyptian Arabic جوانتي (guwanti), which explains the shift from /ɡ/ to /d͡ʒ/ through spelling pronunciation and/or analogy with general sound correspondencies between both dialects.
Pronunciation[edit]
Noun[edit]
جُونْتي or جونتي • (juwinti or juwanti) m (plural جُونْتِيَّات (juwintiyyāt or juwantiyyāt))
