Inherited from Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (fryyh, fryh /⁠frēh⁠/, “more”) in its compound form [Book Pahlavi needed] (frh, fryh /⁠frah, freh⁠/, “more”), attested also in derivatives 𐫛𐫡𐫆𐫏𐫅 (prẖyd /⁠frahīd⁠/), 𐫜𐫡𐫆𐫏𐫅 (frẖyd /⁠frahīd⁠/, “many”) and [Book Pahlavi needed] (prhyst(') /⁠frahist⁠/, “most”), itself comparative of Old Persian 𐎱𐎽𐎺 (paruv, “much, many, too much, very”), from Proto-Iranian *pr̥Húš, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *pr̥Húš.
