North Levantine Arabic[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Arabic مَلِيح (malīḥ) with assimilation of the -l- to the adjacent nasal. Compare a similar assimilation in مبارح (mbēriḥ), from Arabic اَلْبَارِحَ (al-bāriḥa).
