نَوْء (nawʔm (plural أَنْوَاء (ʔanwāʔ) or نُوآن (nūʔān))

  1. tempest, storm; masses of clouds
  2. star setting in the west while another called رَقِيب (raqīb) is rising in the east, which forebodes rain and storm hence
  3. (obsolete) gift, present (apparently because rain is a gift in the desert)
  4. storm petrel
  5. verbal noun of نَاءَ (nāʔa) (form I)
