From هَنْدَسَة (handasa, geometry, architecture, engineering), from earlier هَنْدَزَة (handaza), from هَنْدَاز (handāz), borrowed from Middle Persian handʾc- (handāz-), hndʾhtn' (handāxtan, to plan, to allot, to reckon, to judge), or hndʾck' (handāzag, measure, manner) (> Persian اندازه (andâza)).
