North Levantine Arabic[edit]

Noun[edit]

1. Grape leaves, especially when used in a dish such as sarma.

Example:

حبيت ياكل يبراق. (Hibbit ya'kal yabrak.) - I want to eat grape leaves.

Notes: Yabrak is a more colloquial term for grape leaves in Levantine Arabic, and is more common in certain dialects, such as Lebanese and Palestinian Arabic. Yabrak can also refer to a specific type of grape leaf dish, which is made with thinly sliced grape leaves that are layered with meat and rice, and then cooked in a broth.
