Etymology[edit]

Denominal root from ܬܲܓܵܪܵܐ (taggārā, trader, merchant), from Aramaic תַּאגָּרָא (taʾgārā), ultimately through a *tangār from Akkadian 𒁮𒃼 (tamkārum); doublet of the root ܡ-ܟ-ܪ (m-k-r).
