Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Sanskrit शत (śata) + एक (eka); the expected Dhivehi development of Sanskrit शत (śata) would be *ހިޔަ (*hiya) (compare obsolete dialectal ހިއަ (hia)). Doublet of ހިޔަ (hiya).
