Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘀𑘜𑘜𑘹 (aṇaṇe), 𑘁𑘜𑘜𑘹 (āṇaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀆𑀡𑁂𑀇 (āṇei), from Sanskrit आनयति (ānayati). Cognate with Gujarati આણવું (āṇavũ), Sindhi آڻَڻُ / आणणु, Bengali আনা (ana), Assamese আন (an), Sylheti ꠀꠘꠣ (ana).
