Inherited from Old Hindi तीस (tīsa), from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀢𑀻𑀲𑀁 (tīsaṃ), 𑀢𑀻𑀲𑀸 (tīsā), from Sanskrit त्रिंशत् (triṃśat), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *triHśát, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *triHćát, from Proto-Indo-European *tridḱómt (three-ten). Cognate with Marathi तीस (tīs) and Gujarati ત્રીસ (trīs).
