Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘞𑘰𑘯𑘲 (thāḷī), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀣𑀸𑀮𑀻 (thālī), from Sanskrit स्थाली (sthālī́, earthen dish), feminine of स्थाल (sthāla, vessel, pot), vṛddhi derivative of स्थल (sthala, ground, land).
