Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘡𑘰𑘓𑘜𑘹 (nācaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀡𑀘𑁆𑀘𑀇 (ṇaccaï), from Sanskrit नृत्यति (nṛtyati). Cognate to Konkani नाच्चे (nātsce).
