Borrowed from Sanskrit *अन्याकार (anyākāra, different), from अन्य (anyá, other) +‎ आकार (ākāra, form, shape). Cognate with Punjabi ਨਿਆਰਾ (niārā), Gujarati ન્યારું (nyārũ), Marathi न्यारा (nyārā), Odia ନିଆରା (niara).
