Learned borrowing from Sanskrit चर्यापद (caryāpada, “verses about everyday life”, literally “verses about routine”), from चर्या (caryā, “routine, work; walking about”, from चर् (car, “to practise; to walk”)) + पद (pada, “verse, part”).
