Bengali[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From earlier দুলহা (dulha), most likely borrowed from Hindi दूल्हा (dūlhā), from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀤𑀼𑀮𑁆𑀮𑀳 (dullaha), ultimately from Sanskrit दुर्लभक (durlabhaka, literally "hard to attain or gain"), from दुर्- (dur-, “hardly”) + लभक (labhaka, “attained”), itself a compound of the root लभ् (labh, “to gain, attain”) + -क (-ka, adjectival suffix).
