Learned borrowing from Sanskrit वसुन्धरा (vasundharā, earth (as a dwelling)), from वसुम् (vasum, accusative singular of वसु (vasu, dwelling)) +‎ धरा (dharā, the supporter, i.e. the earth), from Proto-Indo-European *h₂wés-us and *dʰor-eh₂ respectively.
