Etymology[edit]
From earlier হঁতে (hõte), from Early Assamese হন্তে (honte), from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀲𑀦𑁆𑀢 (santa) with locative -এ (-e), from Sanskrit অস্ (as). Cognate to Sylheti ꠅꠘꠦ (one), Kudmali হঁঁতে.
