Etymology[edit]

From Pali taṇhā (desire; thirst), from Sanskrit तृष्णा (tṛṣṇā, idem), from which Thai ตฤษณา is derived. Cognate with Old Khmer taṇhā, Modern Khmer តណ្ហា (tɑnhaa).
