From Sanskrit अनेक (aneka, not one; more than one; many; several; diverse) or Pali aneka (not one; many; various; countless; numberless). Cognate with Khmer អនេក (ʼɑneik), Lao ອະເນກ (ʼa nēk). Equivalent to อน- (on-, not) + เอก (èek, one).
