From Proto-Tai *trawᴬ (“head louse”). Cognate with Northern Thai ᩉᩮᩢᩣ, Lao ເຫົາ (hao), Lü ᦠᧁ (ḣaw), Tai Dam ꪹꪬꪱ, Shan ႁဝ် (hǎo), Saek เหร่า, Zhuang raeu.
