- The 29th letter and 21st consonant of the non-Lao Tai Tham Pali alphabet. In Pali it represents the voiceless, unaspirated labial consonant /p/.
Usage notes[edit]
In the writing systems of Tai languages, the letter represents the sound [b] or [ɓ] at the start of native words. The subscript letter that looks like a small version of this letter and represents that same sound is encoded as an unrelated character in Unicode, namely ᩝ.
