Northern Amami-Oshima[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From pre-Amami *isogari, from Proto-Ryukyuan *isogi, from Proto-Japonic *isonku.
Within the Amami Islands, cognate with Kikai 急がゆい (isugayui), Oki-No-Erabu 急がゆん (ishugayun), Southern Amami-Oshima 急がゆむっ (ishogayum), and Toku-No-Shima 急がり (ishugari). Clearly cognate with Japanese 急ぐ (isogu).
