Etymology[edit]
Doublet of 煎餅/煎饼 (jiānbǐng), via Japanese 煎餅 (senbei), from Middle Chinese 煎餅 (MC tsjen pjiengX, “jianbing”). Spelled phonetically to avoid confusion with 煎餅/煎饼 (jiānbǐng), a different food.
