Etymology[edit]

() + 柴旦, the latter of which is from Tibetan ཚྭའི་འདམ (tshwa'i 'dam), from ཚྭ (tshwa, salt) + འི ('i, possessive particle) + འདམ ('dam, marsh, swamp, morass). Compare 柴達木柴达木 (Cháidámù).
