Etymology[edit]
The "lawyer" sense is orthographically reborrowed into Taiwanese Mandarin, Min Nan and Hakka from Japanese 弁護士 (bengoshi). Cognate with Jeju 벤호사 (benhosa) and Korean 변호사 (byeonhosa).
