From Proto-Karen *chejᴬ (“ten”), from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *ts(j)i(j) ~ tsjaj (“ten”). Cognate with Pa'o Karen [Term?], S'gaw Karen ဆံ (hsee), Burmese ဆယ် (hcai).
