Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Old Javanese baṅśa, waṅśa, from Sanskrit वंश (vaṃśá, “offspring, lineage”), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *wanćás (“ceiling beam”). Doublet of ꦲꦁꦱ (angsa) and ꦮꦁꦱ (wangsa).
