Sino-Korean word from 秘匿, from 秘 (“secretly”) + 匿 (“to go into hiding”).

- Phonetic hangul: [비(ː)닉]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
