Sino-Korean word from 연(燕) (yeon, “Yan”) + 화(火) (hwa, “fire”) + 발 (bal, “foot”).

- Phonetic hangul: [연(ː)화발]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
