Korean[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Sino-Korean word from 最長, from 最 (“most”) + 長 (“long”).
Pronunciation[edit]
- (SK Standard/Seoul) IPA(key): [ˈt͡ɕʰwe̞(ː)d͡ʑa̠ŋ] ~ [ˈt͡ɕʰø̞(ː)d͡ʑa̠ŋ]
- Phonetic hangul: [췌(ː)장/최(ː)장]
- Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
