Either independently derived or potentially via Neo-Babylonian 𒆳𒆪𒌑𒋢 (Kūsu) or 𒆳𒆪𒌑𒋙 (Kūšu), which are not from Old Persian, but directly from Egyptian themselves.[1]

Cognate with Late Babylonian 𒆳𒆪𒌑𒋗 (Kūšu), Hebrew כּוּשׁ (kûš), Ancient Greek Χους (Khous).[1]
