Etymology[edit]

Regular phonological variant of -очка (-očka) after unpaired palatal or originally palatal sounds, or from -ек (-ek) +‎ -ка (-ka); in both cases, originally a double diminutive. Related to -чка (-čka).

  1. Alternative form of -очка (-očka) (after the unpaired sibilants ш ж ч щ ц and unpaired palatal й)
    доска́ (doská, board, plank) + ‎-ечка (-ečka) → ‎до́щечка (dóščečka, small board, small plank)

Usage notes[edit]

  • Properties are the same as for -очка (-očka) except that velars are palatalized.
